Many suffering from drug & alcohol abuse, also suffer from depression.

Substance abuse and depression in Texas commonly go hand in hand. All too frequently, people use drugs or alcohol to cope with their depression or preexisting mental illness. Major depression causes many problems in the individual’s life and has an adverse affect on themselves, their friends and family members as well. Turning to drugs and alcohol can temporarily ease the strife that comes with clinical depression, but this temporary escape only makes both problems much worse in the end.

Co-occurring disorders are identified during your treatment with More Than Reahb. Called a dual-diagnosis, our substance abuse treatment professionals identify any other factors when first evaluating our patients. In treating these other disorders such as severe depression, bipolar disorder and other mood affective disorders can help the drug abuse treatment greatly. Recognizing these other factors and treating them accurately can greatly increase the success of curing the substance abuse disorder and vice versa.

Recovery

Drug addiction coupled with depression can easily create negative thoughts in the individual, which can quickly spiral out of control. While the addict plunges into negative thoughts and adverse life outcomes, recovery can seem impossible. Ranging from suicidal thoughts to just a minor ‘case of the blues’ a chemical imbalance exists in the brain and More Than Rehab utilizes many medical and psychological techniques to treat the problem.

Starting with your phone call to one of our addiction treatment specialists, we begin to formulate an individual needs assessment to help you achieve complete recovery. Then you will begin with a medically supervised initial detox while you or your loved one recovers from the chemical dependency. We will monitor the individual 24/7 and help them through the initial withdrawal symptoms. Next, MTR’s intensive inpatient program will continually monitor the recovery process of the patient and identify the addiction treatment programs that will work best for their unique situation. Our licensed and certified staff monitors the patient 24/7 while we begin group therapy sessions designed to navigate this crucial step in recovery, the first 90 days.
Our Approach

A Social Model:

While More Than Rehab focuses our treatment efforts on your individual needs, we also emphasize a ‘social model’ approach to drug and alcohol rehab. This approach focuses on integrating the individual back into a productive member of society, confident and secure in their recovery. We strive to offer services that will help you maintain your sobriety long after you leave our care facility.

Group and family therapy sessions are encouraged to build a network of support for the recovering addict. Alcohol and drug rehabilitation will work best when reinforced by family, friends and those closest to the individual. We strongly suggest a relapse prevention plan to help maintain a sustained, lifetime of sobriety.

Treating clinical depression coupled with an advanced substance abuse treatment will greatly increase the success in curing both disorders.
